Just ran a 15 sec dark field exposure. Viewed the image, and it appeared dark. Ran it through thumber and found this data:
12 "hot pixels" were found with a brightness in one or
more channels above the threshold of 10.
Below are the coordinates of the 12 brightest.
[x, y] blue green red
====== ==== ===== ===
[558, 1701] 11 11 11
[859, 1669] 22 22 22
[1009, 1537] 13 13 13
[1010, 1537] 18 18 18
[1011, 1537] 12 12 12
[1702, 649] 13 13 13
[127, 527] 11 11 11
[128, 527] 15 15 15
[608, 377] 11 11 11
[411, 279] 29 29 29
[864, 142] 11 11 11
[1377, 1] 24 24 24
Considering that the pixel can have a brightness up to 255, and that there are only 12 out of 4M that are over a 10, I am pleased.

Technique: Manual Exposure, Raw mode, 15 sec @ f8, converted to TIF file in PC, Converted TIF to JPG with Maximum file size (least compression), then evaluated with thumber.
Aside: Still trying to figure out best workflow. Discovered a gotcha with Canon software. What a pain in the backsides - the Canon software, renames the files as it downloads to the PC, whereas if you use a CF reader and drag them over, the files will not be renamed. This makes sorting and filing them all the more complicated, since now some of my files are in each of the two file naming formats. Aaaargh.
