Made a shoot of our family today and well. it looked good on the display, but after...in photoshop @ 100% it was awful at the edges...
Im struggling here since the lens is tack sharp on my 1N. And this was @ 27mm (43mm)

If those soft areas are same on each photo taken with this camera then it's warranty stuff. It top left and bottom right are blurred I suppose the only logical reason is that CMOS is not fully aligned to film plane. You really can't get this sort of result with focusing errors. Faulty lens, yes, but focusing errors are "overall type", not here and there.
I think you'd better print some graphic A4's and tape them on wall as pattern, put the camera on tripod (check that camera is parallel to wall) and try out different apertures - use manual focus, AI servo and One Shot focus. Then contact Canon service or try to get your dealer to give you a new copy of 10D ASAP.

Okey.. I have made some shots today on my bookshelf and the softness goes away @ f8 or smaller f-stops. I have made the same serie on my 1N to see if the lens is soft when on an analouge SLR to.. In that case, the lens has some defekt since it "should" be sharper than this.

100% crop from top right corner with 10D and EF 20-35/2.8L @ 20mm (32mm)
It maybe has something to do with the fact that the CMOS pixels are placed in small "dips" and the angle of the light doesnt hit exactly on each pixel ?
I have read something about it on the net.
Thanxx Pekka. But my 10D performs super with my other lenses.
