I'm planning on moving over from my A2 to a nice new 10D. I've always been into tele bird photography with my 400mm 5.6 but I want to get a walk-a-round lens that's versatile.

I'm conflicted between

Is the Tokina worth the 60$? Is it optically well made? What your opnions on the Tokina versus the Canon is what I would like to hear.

the 28-80 2.8 Tokina Will blow any canon zoom in that price range. I would recommend the tokina, verify with the vendor that it is compatible with the 10D.

I think the newer version is 28-70 2.8
