My border collie. I think he's a character and as he goes pretty much everywhere with me, I always get a couple of shots of his shenanigans.

Did you use flash on the last two shots? I noticed your were at f/4 on the 17-40.
John Hudson
14th of November 2010 (Sun), 06:13
No flash used for any of the shots.
ISO 1250 for the bath (bit of window light and room lighting), and I think max ISO 3,200 extended for the hat shot (indoors at night, only room lighting).
I used a full frame camera at 17mm, generally speaking it provides enough dof given the available light and shutter speed required for hand holding. With better light I'd drop the iso and narrow the aperture, but indoors it usually is a question of getting a useable shutter speed as a first priority.

Absolutely not, he loves it. He's constantly chasing snowballs, sticking his face into the snow and excitedly running around.
I do have a very odd dog though. He's not very interested in most other dogs, and is afraid of folding furniture. As I said....odd!

Beautiful dog! I have a Border Collie Black Lab mix. She is the size of a Border Collie with long black hair. The only color on her other than black is a small (very hard to see) white stripe under her neck. She is very smart & Fast! I'll have to get pictures up here of her soon.

Unfortunately Jake is having a second hernia surgery on Wednesday (following a first surgery back in September). He has to be clean prior to the surgery so tonight he had a bath.

He's doing fine, a little tender at the rear obviously. But apart from that, he is behaving normally.

Thanks everyone, he's doing just fine.
After a check up today every indicator is that the surgery has been a complete success.
This is his 2nd surgery in just a few months, and after the first we had issues with leakage, infection, an air pocket in the wound and he was still in discomfort.
So far with this surgery we have had no issues and although he still appears to have a little discomfort when taking his toilet, it is minimal and the healing incisions could be the cause. He needs a couple more weeks of healing before we can make a full judgment.

More from yesterdays beach trip.
Bobbing for the football. He repeatedly pounces on the ball, pushing it under the water. But as it floats it gets away from him eight times out of ten. Every now and then though, he manages to lodge the ball in his mouth and bring it back to shore.
