Some good news..

After what seems like weeks of trying to get my foot in the door with local football clubs with regards to photo oppertunities with pretty much nothing to show I just wanted to say that this week has been much different.

Monday I get a favourable reply from one minor local football club.
Today the MD from the towns 'biggest' club replied to my email asking me to call him. The end result is that he has arranged 'media passes' for me to go along to all the home games to photograph the matches.

None of this is for financial gain right now, I'm just chuffed to be allowed that much closer to the action than most would get.

Sooo not a bad week, on top of it all I have arranged access to Silverstone this weekend to shoot a motorsport event.

I suppose one thing I should do now is pull my finger out to get a decent lens of my own

So the moral of the story is keep on trying at these things, sometimes they pay off. And I have to say a big thanks to 'gmen' (Gavin) for his lengthy replies to a couple of my emails giving me pointers on who to speak to.:D

well done mate, I'm close to sorting something out too, not going to say what until I know exactly what's going on.

are you shooting Trax or the Drift Finals @ Silverstone?

So what lenses would you be planning to use? You'd need something around 200-300mm at least

I've had some OK results at Silverstone with a 300

I think they only use a handful of corners for the Drift competion so you'll probably be ok with a 200 or 300...but who knows?!

I have on loan a Canon 70-200mm & would have had use of a 100-400 as well this weekend but it looks liek that wont happen now.

By the time I get to the football in a couple of weeks I should have sorted myself a lens or two. Poss Canon 300mm f4 & a Sigma 70-200 f2.8.

Just have to sell a couple of things in the meantime I no longer have need for.

Dave , yea it's only a couple of corners and I should be pretty close up too so the on loan 70-200 will be 'ok' for this time out.

We all have to start somewhere eh ;)
