Digital Rebel 300D manual

Can anyone help me out please. I have lost my manual for the Digital Rebel 300D - I have the software manual, but cannot find the one for the camera itself. Searched everywhere, figure I must have mislaid it on my trip to the UK recently. I called Canon in the US and they said they couldn't ship one to me because I live in the Bahamas, my credit card, which is good worldwide, can't be accepted because I do not have a US address for it, and even though I could have it sent to a relative in Florida that won't work because the credit card has a Bahamian address! I don't want to download it because that means turning off my firewall and virus protection, the download won't work with it on. I specifically wanted to read the pages on how to use the bracketing and metering functions. Is there a kind soul out there who could scan and email me those pages? It would be greatly appreciated!:o :)

That's marvellous rudgej - I was able to read the pdf file no problem - can't imagine why Canon have it set up so that I can't download it without risking an attack on my computer!! I've saved the link you gave me to my list of favourites. How's the weather in Edinburgh? My kids are in Aberdeen, they prefer the temperate climate to the heat and humidity down here, but the main thing is that there is more for them to do over there. They are both grads of Aberdeen uni, and about to start post grad courses at Robert Gordon. Wonderful city, I loved it there this summer. We had wanted to get down to Edinburgh too, but ran out of time - next time for sure!!

I'm glad you got the manual ok, and there is also one available for the 350D too which was a handy backup for me.
How's the weather in Edinburgh? It's not too bad at the moment, although not a patch on the Bahamas. ;) I'm hoping it stays good and clear for sunday night when the end of the Edinburgh Festival is celebrated with a fireworks display from the castle. I'm hoping to get some good photos with a bit of luck.

Thanks for the weather. :D I'm hoping to position myself to get the castle in the foreground with the fireworks above. Hopefully I'll get some good ones that I can post - although a search on fireworks on these forums shows that it is quite a common subject...

So you will be busy looking for that really uncommon angle!! :) I wish I had posted my question on here before I spent a bunch of money calling Canon in Virginia (the 800 free calls don't work from the Bahamas!) and spoken to a very chatty rep! Nice conversation, but I'm dreading the phone bill! Thanks to you rudge, I have now gotten a free copy of the manual on a CD. Next time I have a problem I know where to come!! ;)

Yup.

I think many of us grab PDF files off the Canon web site every once in a while. No problems.

Me thinks you worry too much about your PC being attacked. You are missing a very rich internet experience if you're locked down that tight. That being said, if you can't trust the Canon site who can you trust?

I would suffer serious internet withdrawal if I got a virus - happened to me last year. I may live in a beautiful place, but it's VERY expensive. I really cannot afford to take too many risks. But then, I really only use the computer for keeping in touch with family and close friends, photo editing, BetterPhoto's gallery and monthly contest, ordering stuff from B&H, and checking out one or two forums, - and by the way, I am very glad to have found this one. :cool:

Do not turn off your firewall. Rather take the time to learn how to configure it to work for you.

Sage advice Doc - I've always been a rather cautious person - it's bad enough that constant power outages every time we get a drop of rain can wreak havoc with computers, without having to contend with internet attacks as well. I've got Norton - so many people have told me it's no good, but then again most of them have had their systems down several times and I have been up and running with no problems. Hmm.
