Hi everyone, Sorry to be so thick but I tried last night to copy some photos taken on my G2 from the computer to a cd. No luck at all. The only program I have that the kids use for music etc is Adaptec Create Cd. Can some one please tell me what I need to use? I want to be able to give it to my mother so when she returns home she can view them on her computer. Would she need the same program or would they be viewable on any computer.
I hope some one can give me some help.
Thanks
Penny

I have Nero Burning, but i think adaptec is similar.
just open up the program and follow instructions, the main piece of information you need to know is where your photos are on your hard disc.
then it should be similar to windows explorer, just drag,& Drop then Burn.. (fire icon)
I always put a copy of irfanview onto the cd's so that anyone can view as a slideshow.
but if your mum has XP then the MY Pictures folder will do it for her.

Hi Terry
Thanks for your reply. I had done as you suggested but it wouldn't work. The Cd writer kept opening during the process and then i'd get an error message. after you message I tried to download Nero Burning but with no luck so far. I am having another go at the moment. Where did you get the irfanview from? I want to make it as simple as possible for mum as she is almost 83 and will get flustered if she has to much fiddling about to do.
I think my adaptec must be an old version. I will keep trying but may have to buy another program if I can't get it to work.

If you buy "Nero Burning ROM" http://www.nero.com
the process is simple.
you can either use a wizard in the program or as i do use it manually.
you then have 3 sections on your screen.
the one on the left is the CD you are burning to.
the other two are an identical match to windows explorer.
you then drag whatever you want to copy
from the right hand section onto the left hand one.
click on a flame icon and that’s it.

A couple of questions that may help.
What Operating System are you using?
(If XP it should be easy, if Win95, 98, ME, or 2000 I recommend buying something like Easy CD Creator)
Are you using the correct format of CD?
(I ask this because you may have CD-R versus CD-RW writer and CD-RW will not work on CD-R, also some CDs specifically designed for Audio will not work for data and vice versus for some reason)
Are you attempting to write to the same CD as failed before?
(Just checking since I don't know your level of experience - also if it is a CD-RW you may need to erase it first if it failed before).
Lastly remember that with images you are creating a simple data CD (you mother will just need to click on each picture individually in turn and she will need an image viewer that will work with the format of the images you are sending her.), unless you know what you are doing well enough to create an interactive picture CD.

Hi
I use Widows 98 updated version. I have now got as far as transfering the data ready to burn onto the cd. Then the error message says not the right cd I am using CD-RW that it need to be CD-R/RW. So I was going to try and buy some of those. This was usung a trail copy of Nero Burning. As you can probably tell I am a complete novice at this. I use the trial and error method usually and evenutually I seem to get things to work, however this time It is not.
For the complete idiot trying to put images that are viewable to anyone on any computer what would be your recomendations?
I live in New Zealand in a country town so if there is a site I can purchase them on line that would be great. I am using a canon G2 camera and using Canon Zoom Browser to transfer them to.
Thank you all for your help and patience

You can purchase Nero from your trial version.
or from this link; http://www.nero.com/
and again with CD-R , there are many online stores in Au that will probably ship to NZ. Have a look at your local "Amazon" or http://www.amazon.com
you need CD-R not CD-RW this may explain your problem.
CD-R allows you to drag and drop as you do in windows explorer from a folder on your hard disc to a Floppy .
CD-RW are a re-Writable disc that has "Packet Writing"
(too hard to explain),
with the price of CD-R coming down all the time, most people use them and they are easier to use.
Stick to CD-R.

If your objective is to save pictures to CDR, I suggest you take a look at Archive Creator (http://www.pictureflow.com/ArchiveCreator/Pages/AC-Main.html).
You select your pictures or folders, and the program will save them to the CDR and also create web pages for viewing them. Just about any browser can be used to view the pictures.
You can download a trial. Registration costs $40, less than Nero.
