A friend of mine was taking part in a classic car run in his immaculately restored Triumph TR6. I went along to the start to grab some pictures. Unfortunately they were setting off from an inner city car park and no mater what I did all my pictures look like they were taken in an inner city car park.
I took this picture and then because of the vintage theme I decided to play with B&W now I can’t decide which one I prefer. If pressed I think I would go with the B&W. I am interested in your views.

Your right.. its a hard call! But I think I would have to agree with you, and go with the B & W.

Both are very nice.
Since I used to own a 1964 Spitfire I'm really interested in seeing the paint colour of the vehicle ... so for me, colour is the only one that works for me for this shot :D

I think the two images tell different stories. The first is all about colour and so the triumph gets the attention, unfortunately closely followed by the other red car (don't ask me what it is, because I'm rubbish with cars). The lack of colour in the second draws my attention to the two men and their relationshiop.
Since the car is the focus of the excercise, I would go with the colour version.

The man on the right kind of reminds me of Robert Deniro, I would say B&W. The color picture is too distracting.

It's not hard at all if you've ever owned a Triumph. Red shows much better in color. Lovely little vehicle and great fun to drive. Funny, the steering wheel is on the wrong side...or is the image reversed?

I would go with the colored one.
unfortunately closely followed by the other red car
I'd change that cars color with the Hue coloring.

B&W. Gives it a "classic" feel.

The color one would be a better composition if the car in front of them was black or dark blue instead or red also.

God gave us a colorful world with colorful people.
Let's capture it that way!

The whole thing would have been a better compossition if I wasn't stuck in a tiny carpark in the middle of the city. There were far more attractive (and less crouded) places they could have set out from :(

I love the B&W, but I am partial to B&W photos. I'm reading some other comments about the color of the car.
How about doing a focal B&W and let the car be color and fade it to B&W for the rest of the photo. It could be an interesting effect....
Anyway, it's an awesome photo! :)

That's what I was thinking, try some gaussian blur on the background?

Neil, how about this? Given that they are looking backwards (perhaps in time) I tried selective color on the image in PS and I left everything in color save the men and their vehicle which I left B/W. I think it produced an interesting image not that it isn't as is, just in a different way. With your permission, I'd add it to the post.

If you still have the psd file could you doa version with the car in colour and background in B&W, I think it would be in teresting to compare the two?:D

I looked at it both ways and my thoughts were that, the two men and the open sportscar were what appeared to be from an "earlier place in time." So, I prefer it with them as the B/W portion.

I like this one Airedale1, it's pretty cool. But I have to admit that I like the original color one a wee bit better.

Hey Airedale1 I really like both of these, the first looks like they have been transported forward from another time and the second looks like they are in front of a 1960s back projection screen.
And kudos to you for the work as well
I am really peeved that the car park was so small and full, without the other cars this looks like a still form an old Ealing Comedy.

I like the B&W better. Very nice picture as well as the car.

It was close but my vote is for B&W. The conversion you did is outstanding.

i also thought that the B&W with the colored car would look neat but i dont think the men should be colored. i think it would have more impact if JUST the car was colored. i just did a quickie adjustment to the picture posted above of the car in color and the rest in B&W
