i couldn't believe my luck to have spotted this hawk.i have walked this trail many times before,but no hawks.till today

and then finally i think he had enough of me.i took about 20 shots before he left.i know this last one isnt perfect,but i like it

I am thinking upping the contrast just a bit might make the picture a bit more punchy. Nice capture though.

thanks rob,rik,and kenny.although it looked like he was coming straight for me,he abruptly turned after that last shot.i am thinking of going back there in the morning to see if he is in the same area.thanks again

thanks peter, if he was telling me something i wasnt listening.i wanted pictures.i was beginning to think i would never spot one in the wild.

#3 is a great shot, he does look like he is coming for you. Do you know what kind of hawk he is? Did you notice any red on the tail? About how close did you (or he) get?

thanks mike, i didnt notice any red on the tail,and i would estimate we were never any closer than 100 feet

Nice captures Jeff, it's always a thrill to find/watch raptors in the wild. I'm out watching them most days and never tire of it, they look almost regal to me at times. Hope you find it again, well done on the shots.

thanks tupe ,mitcon,and lynn.i just went out this evening and managed a few more shots of the hawk.i dont know if its the same one or not.i havent looked them over yet. and i know what you mean mitcon.i was telling my wife there is something really cool about those birds.she doesnt see it like i do.but she did like the pics.thanks again everybody.

This was a great oportunity with that perch.. no branches in the way etc..
Congrats on the find and doing such a great job getting the shots!
Both of the perched shots are grweat compositions :)
