Greetings all-
Well, unpacked that 10D box last night..and did my pre/post settings reset test and dead pixel test. All went well- and then I installed the software....everything installed normally- until it got to the twain driver-- and the install bombed. Here is the data:

1. I am using a 98' system - updated to 2000 (so it does not have a WINNT directory..it's still Windows)
2. I un-installed the D60 software first...then installed the 10D software.
3. After Twain install bombed with "1608 Unable to create install driver instance"- I read further in the manual- and deleted the two files in the Windows/inf directory. I had files for the D60 there and an old G2..deleted them both.
4. Tried to re-install the Twian driver..and still same error message.

Anyone have a similar experience?

THANKS-
Bob

Installing drivers on top of drivers can get ugly in Windows. Especially with the open twain protocol. Deleting files does not remove old drivers. My only suggestion is to open your Control Panel and click on “Add or Remove Programs”. Remove all D60 versions and reinstall your new drivers. Good luck!

I am having exactly the same problem
I am using windows 2000 and tried to load the canon digital solution disk software V 11.1.
part of the program installed but stopped and gave me the same 1608: error as you.

I have uninstalled the programs and done all the other things recomended in the manual. But to no effect.

If you find a solution can you please let me know.

cheers
