Greetings!

I recently finished a class on studio lighting, and the mention of radio transmitters, and sync cords was made, and that they were easily obtained - radio obviously spendy.

Well... I can't WAIT to get started with my lights. I will be ordering a set of SOME type mid-october - I think I'll go with the bees (no $$ trees in my yard as of yet...)

I have an opportunity to go use some bees with a friend this weekend. The problem is, I need the sync cord. I will have to suffice with a sync cord for a while, as I am saving for a meter and lights - the spring pay bonus can get me the pocket wizards... ;o)

HELP - I can't find the (*#^@ sync cord. Can someone PLEASE send me links to cords they KNOW work with both the Canon 10D and 20D? My 20 is going in the shop, so I have to make do with the 10D right now.

I'll be soooooooo grateful if you can help here asap - i'd like to have it ordered and overnighted for arrival prior to Friday.

Thanks!

nina

I don't want to link to a specific cord in case I get it wrong, but it's just a generic sync cord AFAIK. The other option is to use an optical slave, you need an external speedlite for that though (550EX/580EX), set on manual, because the internal flash only does ETTL and you can't turn the preflash off. AlienBees come with a sync cord, so most AB setups should have the cord already.

Standard PC sync cord as TIm said.

I have a spare Elinchrom sync lead you could have... but it would not get to you in time...

oh yeah, and they should already have em.... they are standard.

'Bees come with a 15-foot sync cord and a 15-foot power cord. One end of the sync cord has a standard male PC connector, and the other end has a 2-conductor mini phone plug that plugs into the flash unit. The male PC connector plugs directly into the PC socket on a 20D.

I don't know what the 10D has for a socket, though. You might have to get an adapter for the hotshoe. If you need an adapter, you don't need to worry about getting one with voltage control (such as the Wein SafeSync versions) because the 'Bees have a 5-volt trigger circuit.
