If you're not in a studio.

If so what 'boom box' do you use?

I'm envisioning one of those that accept an ipod but it can't simply sound like an iphone playing out of its maxed out speakerphone lol

Sometimes I do play music. I leave it up to the model/client. I can work with or with out it. I dont use a 'boom box' I use powered speakers meant for a computer with my laptop. I also have a semi cheap iPod/Phone system that does not sound too bad at mid levels that I will use if they bring thier own music.

On location (if a semi-static location, not, for instance, on a city sidewalk) I'll use a boombox with an AUX jack so that I can plug in my smart phone. I'll run one of several Pandora stations on it, depending on the mood of the session and the tastes of the model.

I run Pandora in order to stay on the good side of copyright laws.
