Nice. How do you like the Spikes lower? BTW, that is a LOT of Magpul stuff on that rifle, so why not BAD lever?

like the spike lower. Def a nice peace. I got a set for 150 that had all the magpul stuff (well minus the pmags). iron sights are yankee hill and eotech 517 for it. Upper is a stag arms 3h. It was a budget build..what you see cost me 1100 and shoots flawlessly.

Few more shots I revisited with LR3 and CS5.... able to pull out more details this time around... the difference in the skies alone... really has made me go back and look at all the shots from the trip to see what other shots I can salvage.

Welcome! got any photos to share? :-)

aha, I do have pictures, but I've never had a decent camera before. I push what I can out of my camera (a kodak family digital camera), but if I'm lucky, I might be able to afford the canon eos 550D!

is it ok to post here? well anyway, here are the most recent pictures I took with my 8 MP camera. a lot of pictures I took I messed with in photoshop, but never did anything to drastically change the actual look. mostly just changes in contrast and stuff to make the quality not look so awful lol

I messed with this one a lot. it's a picture I took downtown with my two friends (actually, I think this was taken with my friends camera) (http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h278/silvertails8/thezombiehunterssmall-1.jpg)
a relative of mine in Nevada (http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h278/silvertails8/StillHappy.jpg)
my cousin (he's actually a child model :D) (http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h278/silvertails8/PlayfulChildren.jpg)
my cousin again (http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h278/silvertails8/Lookpasteverything.jpg)

stuff like that. but have patience, I just started getting into photography not even last year

I fully agree... you need to sell that shot to a Christmas card company... great job!

Shot with the Canon 5D and the Canon 16-35L

Technology has advanced as we all know... Lightroom 3 and CS5 are amazing. Have a look at the "After" shot. Most of the work was in LR3 and them cleanup and polished

Going back and reworking my images from this trip...and others...

Good times!
HatchGreat photo.... What kind of tweaking did you do in LR?

Hey all you West Valley people, what are some good shooting locations in your area?

Looking for some head shots with nice open-shade and trees or grass and flowers for a background . . .

I know of a nice park right next to Glendale Community College that is nice, what else is over there?

Thunderbird park?

Also if there is some place with power for lights or hair and makeup that would be a bonus.

Really, really really cheap studio time?

And of course it was purchased for my son for post processing his Lego mini-figure portraits.... ;)

Once again the Motorsports sub-forum on this site has proved to have absolutely no redeeming properties, well unless you are from the UK and are interested in rally racing . . .

So on that happy note, maybe you guys will find some interest in some dirt slinging mud monster machines . . .

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5286/5267937566_846a4ffcca_b.jpg

There was plenty of light, so you could bang away at the shutter at the fastest shutterspeeds, but how hard is that?

How about working on some slow shutterspeed panning shots?

My wife has been bugging me for a holiday family photo so we went to the preserve this evening. My main goal was to work with the cheapy triggers and try out my new (to me) Sekonik 358. I found this test shot to be a hoot. Nobody is looking anywhere and my kids really don't want to be there..

Selling outside marketplace is NOT allowed!

If you only want to offer something for sale to people partitipating in this thread it MUST be done through email/pm. No exceptions. Period and its not up for discussion.

If you absolutely feel a need to comment then send it in PM.
I dont know if you posted this for my post... Im not selling or buying. Was just talking about what happened. lol

60D is a great camera just like the others. I have one, the photos are excellent. Don't feel so sad :)
I know it is. I just dont like plastic body. I was originally going to get the 7D because i love the weight, size, and 8fps but do to someone backing into my car and leaving, i wont have enough money for the 7D just the 60D

Your safe it wasn't about your post, it was about mine. Sorry t hear about your car, have you checked the pricing for the canon loyalty program?

Yes it is, not sure which is better as I have not used the other. Works fairly easy, although there is very little direction. I'll be testing the lenses as motivation becomes available.
It is about a 1/3 cheaper I believe.

grt. could you post of your results when you get that motivation;) lol

This is not your thread, it is a thead on Pekka's forum, http://photography-on-the.net
All the rules of POTN apply here including that sales offers may only be posted in the MarketPlace and the penultimate paragraph in the Forum Rules of Use (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?p=353304); IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH THESE RULES THEN DO NOT DISCUSS IT IN THE FORUM. CONTACT AN ADMINISTRATOR OR MODERATOR AND PRESENT YOUR REASONING TO THEM.

The Mods are charged with the enforcement of the rules. All the rules. If that is not acceptable for you then perhaps you should follow the last paragraph of the rules.

Brand new $1300 with lens, etc. I will only have $800 which is just enough for the 60D. All good though.

I have never heard of Canon loyalty program.

Taunt,
You need to look into lighting if you want to take great portraits. I'd take a xsi with 2 decent monolights over a 7D any day. Not telling you that you shouldn't get your camera, just saying that getting some lights will make a much bigger difference to the quality of your images than a camera body.

That sucks. Someone back into my car crushing my front end. I have to get new piping and intercooler for the turbo, new front bumper, new hood, i put my stock headlights on as i had the euro amber corner lights on which cost around $800. And i need a new bumper frame with fenders.
Thankfully with shop and business discounts its only going to cost me $1400 instead of $2700. Its nice having car family lol.

On another note:
I was going to buy my 60D from B&H but i hate their crappy service. Do to the price i was going to get it.
While placing order i got an email from my friend who asked me if a website called mobilestorenow.com was legit or not. I myself am not sure and was wondering if anyone knows about this site etc. One thing that bothers me is how its from Indonesia. Any ideas?

I had a local adult model contact me and ask me if I was interested in photographing her for her new softcore adult website. Compensation is provided. Is this something I should consider doing?

Ideally, I'd like to have my work published in maxim-style magazines, and I'm worried that working in adult stuff may jeopardize that. On the other hand, we'd be shooting often so I'd get a ton of experience from this. Thoughts?

Oh... and depending on what you want to get... it's a pretty nice hit.. Nikon glass aint too cheap... lol... plus the learning curve of the Nikon system.. the controls on the camera require 2 hands to manipulate, rather than everything at your fingertips on the right site as with Canon...

talk to Michael O on our thread.. he has D700.... get's amazing reviews.. as does the Nikon zooms.... the primes however, get weird feedback about nervous bokeh, and not as creamy as Canon... pros and cons either side I suppose...

I have your PM... . I was going to re read it last night, but I ended up working late on another project... then this morning the screen was blue... :(

I don't really know how to do a fresh install. I know that last time it wasn't working properly, I had the place I took it to for diagnostic/repair to copy my entire drive onto an separate drive inside the machine..

I never did anything with the drive.. I was planning to have one drive manage my files, and another drive just for the operating system and my programs. But my limited knowledge prevented me from ever doing anything. lol...

I never made a disc image.. I don't even know what that means... it's bad... I know.. that's why I'm wondering where you guys recommend I can take it to have somone fix it for me... hopefully it won't cost me an arm and a leg...

I swear I'm am so tired of computer problems, I wish I would have bought a Mac when my last system died on me a year ago... :( frustrating.

I swear I'm am so tired of computer problems, I wish I would have bought a Mac when my last system died on me a year ago... :( frustrating.

PSOD (blue screen of death) is never good as some of this PC madness can be frustrating or worse to your health and files!

Here is something to look into :
Start machine and upon boot first press f8 continously
in advanced options tab uncheck "automatic reboot on failure"
now open windows normally
this time when blue screen occurs ,this time it will not automatically reboot, but will show u a list of alphanumeric text
scroll to last three to four lines & it will show some xxxxx.dll or xxx.exe crashed
now u have got the problem source
now reboot & open task manager & go to process end the exe related to that dll

Think this might help or at least identify the offending file/process.

Thank you. I saw these instructions on a help thread when I searched out the error codes.. but i wouldn't know how to find the process and don't really understand .dll, except that it's what makes the system run, and if i remove a critical file, I'll be in more trouble.... lol..

blah..... I should haved gone to tech school..... lol...
Wow!! Great shot Jay!

Yep... cool shot.. my apologies for not commenting... being self centered with my stressing over the main pc problem...

I didn't even wake up to go and peek at the eclipse.. I planned to, but I guess I was too sleepy.

Going to be making videos soon. Just small ones to get my old skills back. I havent made a video in a few years so most of my knowledge with it all is somewhat in the back of the mind. Going to try and bring it back as i want to make more again.

Wont have a camera for even longer now. Found a downside to the 60D that makes me not want it now so going to wait longer until i have enough for the 7D. Itll be more worth it i believe.

I have $700 so far. I found a 7D body only for $1300 form butterflyphoto and am going to save for it.
I think it will be the better choice since i wanted the 7D anyhow. :)

Im going to go to bed now though. I have alot to do tomorrow. Goodnight everyone.

Butterfly Photo has a rating of three stars out of ten on resellerratings.com

I'd be very, very careful buying from them! The word scam shows up in many reviews.

In fact, I'd avoid them like the plague.

Nice moon shots everyone!

Kristy, spent the weekend recovering my wife's desktop from a crashed hard drive so I feel your pain. Luckily, I had a backup and recovery disk. I did hire a guy to help who was good. Let me know if you think you might need some professional help and I'll pm his contact info to you.

pn = Guy Evanwood (nice ring to it!)

Everyone have a great day.

OK AZ folks, I just got this Christmas joke/story but you will appreciate this one:

Making a baby.
There is not one dirty word in it, and it is funny!--

The Smiths were unable to conceive children and decided to use a surrogate father to start their family. On the day the proxy father was to arrive, Mr. Smith kissed his wife goodbye and said, 'Well, I'm off now. The man should be here soon.'

Half an hour later, just by chance, a door-to-door baby photographer happened to ring the doorbell, hoping to make a sale. 'Good morning, Ma'am', he said, 'I've come to...'

'Oh, no need to explain,' Mrs. Smith cut in, embarrassed, 'I've been expecting you.'

'Have you really?' said the photographer. 'Well, that's good. Did you know babies are my specialty?'

'Well that's what my husband and I had hoped. Please come in and have a seat !.

After a moment she asked, blushing, 'Well, where do we start?'

'Leave everything to me. I usually try two in the bathtub, one on the couch, and perhaps a couple on the bed. And sometimes the living room floor is fun. You can really spread out there.'

'Bathtub, living room floor? No wonder it didn't work out for Harry and me!'

'Well, Ma'am, none of us can guarantee a good one every time. But if we try several different positions and I shoot from six or seven angles, I'm sure you'll be pleased with the results.'

'My, that's a lot!', gasped Mrs. Smith.

'Ma'am, in my line of work a man has to take his time. I'd love to be In and out in five minutes, but I'm sure you'd be disappointed with that.'

'Don't I know it,' said Mrs. Smith quietly.

The photographer opened his briefcase and pulled out a portfolio of his baby pictures. 'This was done on the top of a bus,' he said.

'Oh, my!' Mrs. Smith exclaimed, grasping at her throat.

'And these twins turned out exceptionally well - when you consider their mother was so difficult to work with.'

'She was difficult?' asked Mrs. Smith.

'Yes, I'm afraid so. I finally had to take her to the park to get the job done right. People were crowding around four and five deep to get a good look'

'Four and five deep?' said Mrs. Smith, her eyes wide with amazement.

'Yes', the photographer replied. 'And for more than three hours, too. The mother was constantly squealing and yelling - I could hardly concentrate, and when darkness approached I had to rush my shots. Finally, when the squirrels began nibbling on my equipment, I just had to pack it all in.'

Mrs. Smith leaned forward. 'Do you mean they actually chewed on your, uh...equipment?'

'It's true, Ma'am, yes.. Well, if you're ready, I'll set-up my tripod and we can get to work right away.'

'Tripod?'

'Oh yes, Ma'am. I need to use a tripod to rest my Canon on. It's much too big to be held in the hand very long.'
Mrs. Smith fainted!
