Is there a way to edit multiple pictures in cs2. Such as auto curves, and auto levels.I thought you could batch process the images.

You can batch process. Create an action for the process, select the images you want to batch process in Bridge. and then batch them to the action you created.

how exactly do you do that.

My goodness, doesn't anyone know how to read a manual, search a forum or the web, or try stuff out themselves anymore?

- open the files you want to process
- make sure your Actions window/palette is up (go to PS's Window menu if the palette is not up)
- click the little arrow button on the Actions palette to reveal a popup menu, and select "New Action..."
- in the subsequent dialog box, name the action
- click the Record button
- on one of the files, do all the stuff you want to do it (note that if you have a Save in the action, you will have to be careful about file replacement/overwriting)
- when you're done, click the arrow button on the Actions palette again and select "Stop Recording"
- put away the file you were working on or when you batch, it will get processed again
- go to the File menu and select Automate > Batch
- in the subsequent dialog box, find and select the action you just created
- click OK to run it -- it will process all open files in Photoshop
- the action will run exactly the same parameters you created, so if any files need treatment different from the original file you changed, don't have those files open ;)

It's easier than it looks and once done, stays there so you can always use it. Remember to name it so you can clearly go back to it. For example if you are resizing to 700 pixels width call it '700 pixels' not 'resize' or something as it can be a pain if you do multiple batch operations.

I have done what nickc said. But still you have to choose file extension and hit save for every picture. I want to be able to choose a folder with lets say 100 picts in it, batch process it and have all the picts edited without having to save each one.

Have you atcually tried the software that canon supplied???
It lacks advanced features but does batch process really well.

Chose the "folder" option in the batch dialog, and specify the folder you want all the files saved to so it doesn't prompt you on every one.

and it's all covered very nicely in Bruce Fraser's "must have" book on pages 208-9.

if I select the overide save as commands box, then it doesn't ask me to save the files every time. But the new files are never saved. The new folder is created but it is empty when the batch is complete. t=I f the box is unchecked then I have to choose the extension for every picture.

Did you forget to put a "Save as" step in the list of actions? You have to prime that pump at the time you record the steps by actually doing a phoney save to some phoney place just to get that step into the action.

Not intuitive, is it?
