Picture 1-13 was the best of them, I don't think you need to upgrade camerabody yet, seems to me you can gain alot by learning basic photography first. Read more on POTN and photographybooks, and keep shooting.
Learn about ISO, aperture and shutterspeed. Maybe you know this... How can you expose for more ambient light in a portrait with flash...
Composition - how to frame your shots, shoot on the same level as the subjects eyes, not from above, try to keep subject 1/3 to the side, not only in the middle.
Flash compensation- learn to use flash but dial it down so it doesnt show
DOF - Depth of field, learn how aperture changes the depth of whats in focus.
