Aftermarket Angle finder?

I'm thinking of getting a angle finder to use on my 50D. I love Canon quality but hate to spend so much on a item I'm not sure will be used. Can anyone recomend a cheaper brand?

I can't speak for other brands but the Canon Angle Finder C is built like a tank and optically performs as you'd expect an OEM part priced as it is to perform. If you decide you can't/won't/don't use it, reselling it is never a problem (with minimal loss).

With an angle finder you'll have a lot more freedom of camera placement while maintaining your camera's best AF modes. Adjustable screens are very convenient (and are probably the future) but an angle finder provides quicker, more accurate AF and generally faster camera operation. And if you're interested in macro work, for instance, often the quicker the camera operation the better. :)
