Just ordered a new lens!!!

Hello everyone. What a wonderful girlfriend I have. She ordered the 60mm EF-S from B&H for my b-day. It will be here on Friday, but she keeps telling me that I will not be permitted to use it until the 20th. Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!! Now, what I really want to here from y'all is any personal experiences with this lens & please feel free to share photos, tips, do's & don'ts. Comments would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have experience with this particular lens, but from what I've seen and heard this is a very sharp lens like other canon macro lens. Congrats!

I've had this lens about a month. I love it! Sharp, fast, etc but macro photography can be frustrating, and needs alot of practice. I've taken some nice shots, but deleted alot too. Spring is just starting here and I am really looking forward to it this year. Lots of flowers and bugs to photograph.

what a sweet gf you have :) tell her on friday that if she doesn't let you use the lens you'll have to bring some of the bugs home so you can photograph them in a "studio" environment..........
if she likes bugs you're stuffed :)

Really nice flower, scotttnz. I must answer with my favourite, as well! This was not taken with a Canon camera (it was an Olympus Camedia C-2000Z), but it was taken during the kiwi spring of... uhm... three years ago.

Thanx Scott. I can't wait to open my b-day gift. HAHAHA I did go to Ritz Camera & test it out on the Rebel XT. It seemed to be very fast in focusing. I think the salesman was a bit upset when I question him for 10 mins. & then said thanx & walked out knowing that I was going to have her order it from B&H. It was $40 cheaper from them. I guess I am a bit of a penny pincher, especially when dropping $400++ on a lens. Thanx again for the comments.

No its not glass! Been with me all my life, BG. All I did was sit at my desk, point my 350D with the 60mm Macro fitted wait till auto focus had worked and took the picture! Amazing! In Photoshop I changed the background from white to a colour nearer to my iris colour and hey presto. Glad you liked it.
