Hi,
my name is Hans. I am a german, living now in Canada. My english is not perfect – it is bad. But I am able to read all this beautiful sites made by Pekka Saarinen. Pekka’s sites are a big part of my decission to sell my 2 Canon A1 and my EOS and buy a digital-camera, the Powershot G2. I don’t want carry 14 kg of equiment anymore. I got a few days ago my new Powershot G2, with all assessories I am very glad.
But I will tell you what is my experience with forums, and why I write this message down. I was allways missing information of the peripherie of the camera, what means the PC and how I can store the pictures. All the picture-wallets are expensive and you can use them only to store pictures. 700 $ only for this is to much. I was looking for a better idea and now I have my perfect system.
If I am at home I can store my pitures in RAW on my 1 GB Microdrive and a second 340 MB Microdrive and later download on PC. If I am on travel I carry my Toshiba Tecra 8000 with 20 GB anyway with me. Not only for the pictures – for all other activities what you can do with a laptop, like printing, scan, internet, etc. For the same price like a picture-wallet you can get a slim-line CD/RW. My is excellent and from LaCie.

Same size like a CD-ROM case but 3 cm high (3 CD-ROM cases). I can download all RAW-files on the 20 GB harddisc on a special partition. Later I burn all files on the CD/RW. If I am ready and dont want change anything in or with the pictures I burn all on CD’s. Thats better than only a picture-wallet, because you can use the CD/RW for everything.
I hope you could understand my bad english and it is helpfull. If anybody has information, how I can make a longer tele ( I have the converter with factor 1,5, I mean really longer up to 200 mm) with the Powershot G2, please let me know.
Thanks, Hans
