I've just discovered this site. I currently have a Canon S30 camera which is nice, but I have now discovered is too toy-like!
I need the real thing, which I have determined is a D30. I have checked eBay prices on these cameras, but eBay seems to be fetching about $750 for one.
That seems high when compared to a new 10d for $1300 (as seen on this forum). Where is the best (cheapest) place to get a nice D30?
Thanks,
Lee (a newbie)

Canon 10D for $1300.00 sounds to good to be true. I am seeeing D60's selling for around $1200.00 for a used one on ebay. I just got 2 canon 10D's from B&H in new york and paid $1,500.00 for each. They are canon USA warranty cameras. Be very carful these these cameras are very very expensive to repair when used or with no warranty. Wish you all the best.

I do not think 750.00 is high. You are going to pay $800 to $1000.00 for a good compact with some optical zoom.

not true several people have ordered cameras from dell and had them shipped for 1309.00 I myself ordered one from dell for 1309. CDW is selling them for 1350 and goodguys for 1350 also. and they are USA not greymarket 1200 for a used D60 is too much and so is750 for a used D30.

Here's what I think is happening on eBay. Items that are popular with the mass consumer market are often NOT good deals as used goods on eBay. When lots of people want a certain item (like the D30), they drive the price up to the maximum used value of that thing, or even beyond.
I buy lots of professional video goods on eBay and get great deals. But there are not that many pro video guys looking for stuff on eBay, as say, compared to consumers looking for D30's. Therefore, the used pro video stuff can be great deals. But the used D30's get jacked up too high!
I think a used D30 body, with its potential repair costs, should be only worth $500 at most. But the eBayers increase that price up to $750 (or more) because so many people want a good used camera, they will pay any price, even one that's too high!
How could anyone pay $1200 for a used D60 when a 10D NEW can be had for $1300? That's eBay frenzy kicking up prices tooooo high.
Buyer Beware!

KEH will pay $688 for a nice used D30. Most camera stores want 800-1000 for a D30. $750 is reasonable for a D30 and $1200 is good for a D60. There is a lot of point and shoot junk for these prices. I will agree however that the D10 is a steal at $1500 or less according to some. All produce superb images and I have paid for all of them with the profits from their images in less than a year. You may get a D30 cheaper than $750 but it is a steal at that price in my opinion. Brian

I don't know where Bunz is getting those numbers, but I checked on KEH's web site and they will pay only $512 for a D30 body in average shape. (meaning a couple of small dings, but decent shape). Then they go and sell it for almost $900. Hmmmmmm.
"CANON DIGITAL D30 3.25 MEGAPIXELS WITH CABLES, CD, 16MB COMPACT FLASH CARD, BATTERY, CHARGER, CAP, STRAP, INSTRUCTIO "
"The estimated value of these items is: $512.00"
