View Full Version : Linking Question

We used to be able to write a text for the links we are making. For example I can link to Yahoo.com and write "click here", the "click here" would appear in blue text and when people click it, it takes them to Yahoo.com. I'm not able to do that now, and I'm sure I'm missing something somewhere.

Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks.

You must in editor where you see the BBCODE, when writing in "advanced mode" click top right icon "aA" to change editors.

Edit: I used to see BBCODE but I no longer can. Where can i enable it.

If you click QUOTE to this post, do you see any bbcode?
Do you have Javascript on?

No

Do you have Javascript on?

I'm not an expert in these things (obviously) But I don't think Javascript is enabled, for security reasons from what I understand.

There is a box "Posting Rules" below. What does it say about "vB code"? Is it on or off?

As usual (I mean always) Pekka is right, but a graphical explanation may help.

I use Internet Explorer in Spanish, but the sequence will be the same no matter the browser used.

click top right icon "aA" to change editor mode.
When it is in the WYSIWYG mode the top and left borders of the reply window are ticker:

When you are in the WYSIWYG mode you can do the following:
1. Type ‘click here’ ( or your intended text for the link)
2. Select the text ‘click here’
3. Click the insert link icon
4. Somewhere in the screen a dialog box pops-up. Type your link: _http://www.yahoo.com
5. Click OK. Note that http:// is already there. Do not repeat it as in your test.

In the vB mode the code explained by pekka is all you will need.

Thanks again rpolitsr, good job (insert thumbs up here). I'm sure your effort is not wasted as many people will read and use the illustration you made.
