I seem to be able to do a few things on my EE setup that I had no problems doing before. Broken is my inability to edit this picture:
http://www.melor.com/gallery/photo.php?photo=795&exhibition=5
When I do, I get this error: "The page cannot be displayed The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings."
Cannot enter backup page, get this error "You need at least MySQL version 3.23.20 to use this software. You are currently using version 4.0.12." This is a puzzle since 4.0.12 is greater than 3.23.20?????
Any suggestions?

That is a message what you get when photo+exhibition combination is wrong and/or password is wrong/missing.
Do you have exhibition 5?

This can be fixed by EE Backup update, see http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=9812
After you've updated EE backup, and you still can't solve the first problem please do a backup file of the database and mail it to me for investigation.

I took the exhibition off-line because of the problems I have been having. It can be viewed here:
http://www.melor.com/gallery/list.php?exhibition=10&pass=dce80c253dc6cc579ce5a69214327502
I downloaded the EE Backup Update, but am not sure where to place the files on my website. Some instruction on it's implementation would be great.
I love the EE, and have gotten many compliments on it. Right now, however, I am somewhat stuck without additional guidence. Thanks in advance.

I don't see anything wrong with that exhibition. Maybe your problem was really a server hiccup.

Inside your "gallery/input" folder (or whatever you renamed it to) you have folder "backup". This is where EE Backup resides. Copy there from EE Backup update package "index.php" and "delete.php" using ftp program. You need to make sure you overwrite index.php.
If you get error messages the first time you run the new EE Backup, do the follwing:
1. rename folder names inside backup folder to
ee_backup_files
ee_backup_graphs
ee_backup_help
ee_backup_prefs
2. Open ee_backup_prefs/preferences.php to text editor and see that variable $dir is
$dir = "ee_backup_files/";
I love the EE, and have gotten many compliments on it. Right now, however, I am somewhat stuck without additional guidence. Thanks in advance.
I will try to assist in every way I can.
The best way to get database problems fixed fast is to send me full backup dump of you database - no other files are needed. I then install it on my home server and debug possible problems in it. I then send you back the corrected database dump you can restore.
Even faster way is to mail me to pekka@photography-on-the.net the address to your input folder so that I can verify in person what problems you are having. When you have EE Backup installed and working I can do dumps myself and also restore them.
If you are unsure of how to install EE Backup, mail me address, username and pass to your ftp server and I'll install it for you.
I will not do anything else in your server than investigate and fix EE. Finding and fixing some problems like wrong permissions in photo files require ftp connection, too.
When reporting bugs and problems the best way to get bug fixed fast is to write down a flow of actions which reproduce the problem, e.g.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
EE Version 1.3RC, MySQL version 4.01, PHP version 4.3.1
1. I am in photo editor
2. I click hide details
3. I see an error message:
"ERROR FROM QUERY update_showdetail in page 'photoeditor':
------------------------------
Unknown column 'ee_photo_showdetal' in 'field list'"
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks for the detailed instructions. The gallery will view normally, but when you try to edit one of the pictures, the error I mentioned earlier will popup. Unfortunately I cannot apply this fix until this Sunday, and will let you know.
