I read in another message that the manual says that IXUS V3 (S230) cannot accept more than 256 Mb Compact Flash...I find this hard to believe...could this be true? If so, it would be a real turn off! :(

I'm not sure it is true or not but I read that too. I have the S400 which is the newer model. I still use the 256 MB cards though. They are a great price right now. Lexar 256 MB at Amazon for $43.00 after rebate. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005U0HU/mjbdesign-20
But another reason is that if for some reason a card goes bad for what ever reason, I don't loose everything I have shot. I have 4 256 cards now and a handful of 128 cards. I just ordered 2 of the Lexars.
Hope this helps ease your mind.

yep, that's true...thinking twice, I prefer 2x256 than losing a whole 512Mb...
anyway...anybody who has access to a S230 and a 512MB CF can verify this?
