Like most people I have a finite amount of money.
I like the 1DS because but could not afford additional lenses (none of the L-series). If I buy a 10D this would leave me with some funds to buy a 16-35L or 24-70L to supplement the much needed wide-angle range.
Q: At 50 mm focal length (31mm on the 10D) which camera/lens combination would give the sharpest picture at f4:
a) 10D with 16-35L
b) 10D with 24-70L
c) 1DS with 28-105

I don't know, but I do know that the 1ds will show up the nastiness of any but the best lenses.

If you even have to ask, get a 10D. The 24-70 balances the 1Ds very well and works fine; you could probably get away with something else on the 10D. If you like wide angle then you'll need something wider with that 1.6 thing

I go with Phil. Option B is the sensible choice in the absence of other info to make a decision.
