Panorama - how to make images the same exposure

Is there some easy way to make all the shoots that will make a panorama, the same exposure. I have taken all the shots in Av at the same setting for each shot. But as I move the camera, the images are a bit darker or lighter.

Set Av with the desired aperture and scan the scene with the shutter half-pressed and watch the shutter speed. Determine the "best" exposure setting, then switch to Manual mode and dial in those numbers. Take one shot, and then set Custom White Balance using that shot as the base. Then shoot the shots for the pano, and everything will be locked in identically for each shot. Don't forget to switch back to Auto White Balance after you take the shots.

oh, I didnt do that and my hols have finished.

I wonder if the images will still be usable.

It's really that simple.

In the "olden days" that's all we COULD do. I'm shocked at how many folks these days don't even think of turning off the new-fangled automation, but some times that's the simplest way to do things. Even with my 20D, I very often use manual focus and manual exposure settings.

Some addition problem seem to ocuring.


In Panovue and Canon photostich both software is having a hard time with my EFS 10-22. The panoramas that it makes looks like a few fish eye photos stuck together.

The actual photos by them selves dont look fish eye at all.

Hmm - I thought having a wide angle would make great panoramas.

Any Suggestions?

Use M mode.

That took 4 replies! Wow. M mode is manual - you set the aperture and the speed. Figure out what you want to use and all the shots will fit together (just don't use a polarizer on those shots!)

Hmm - I thought having a wide angle would make great panoramas.Many wide angle lenses create a bit of distortion in the images. When doing panoramas, you'd be much better off using a "normal" lens and connecting more images. A "normal" lens would be 50mm for a 35mm (or "full frame" digital) camera, and about 31mm for the 10D, 20D, 300D, and 350D.
