Finally decided to buy a digital camera!! and have spent the last week trying to learn and collect info on dig cam specs. I know I am looking for about 2mp, movie clips, and great resolution. Canon has durable, compact bodies and sooo many features that are attractive. I think I've narrowed my search to the A60 or the S200 elph (these are about my price range). Any critiques on these models would be greatly appreciated, as my brain is throbbing!!! This camera will be used almost on a daily basis with lots of emailing, movie clips and photo printing!! THANK YOU!!

These two cameras has been replaced by A70 and S230 which are 3 MP's. I have used the S300 which is 2 Mp and the quality is pretty good as long as you do not make 8x10 or large prints.

The A60 has not been replaced by the A70 - they are both brand new models - they BOTH are replacing the A40.

I've had the S200 for less than a week and love it. I wanted a digital camera for digital images so I couldn't see any point going over 2MP. More than anything I wanted a camera which would be with me all the time and this slips in a shirt pocket and stays there. So far I've found it hard to take a bad picture with it. All I would say is that you should factor in a bigger compact flash card and spare battery because you're going to want one. A card reader is handy too. Add those in and price differential for more pixels or more zoom look more modest.
I read some user reviews on other sites and was wary of some performance issues - especially battery life, macro performance and low light performance. I was disappointed with the battery performance on day 1 and ordered my spare (1200 mAh from batterybarn (recommended on this site-thanks guys)), then realized the battery has to go through several charge/discharge cycles to condition it to its full capacity. Battery now lasts a couple of days, but good to have the spare.
Macro has been great, I don't know what the problem was for some.
Low light - well it's a small camera with a small flash, just get close to your subject! That's a small price compared to not getting a pic because you left a bulky camera at home.
Zoom is only 2x, for me any zoom was a bonus but it's handy for framing shots of kids and pets in a domestic setting. Took a few shots at a spring football game as well and was happy with what came out. For me, zoom is usually just a camera shake amplifier or encourages me to shoot things which are out of flash range (on my 35mm compact).
I didn't expect to use the video clip feature but it turned out to be fun - don't expect too much though, the clips are short (camera limited NOT card limited). You can take a bunch of short clips and join them with the right software though, if you don't mind gaps in the action.
Altogether, great little package, much admired, everything I expected and more. I just need to learn how to use all the features and take more control over my pics, all I did so far was set the largest image size and minimum compression and learn to use the macro button and panoramic feature (which works great).
Hope someone will let you know theit A60 opinion for comparison!

The A60 has NOT been replaced by the A70, they were both released at the same time. The only difference is the A70 is 3 megapixel vs the A60's 2 Megapixel. The A60 has the same features as the A70 otherwise. They BOTH take great pics!
