I can't afford a decent macro lens just yet so had another try hand holding a reversed kit lens against the body of a Rebel XT (350d) for this hand-held shot.
I set the aperture with the lens correctly fitted then with the camera still powered up, took the lens off and turned it around.
You get a very shallow DOF with this technique but it's enough to give me a taster of what is possible with a 'real' lens!
I was surprised to get the eye(s) reasonably in focus as I was very close and had to move the camera back and to to manually focus...
