I can't afford a decent macro lens just yet so had another try hand holding a reversed kit lens against the body of a Rebel XT (350d) for this hand-held shot.
I set the aperture with the lens correctly fitted then with the camera still powered up, took the lens off and turned it around.

You get a very shallow DOF with this technique but it's enough to give me a taster of what is possible with a 'real' lens!

I was surprised to get the eye(s) reasonably in focus as I was very close and had to move the camera back and to to manually focus...

Very well done, considering what you had to go through to get this shot, the eye came out really good, great shot.:D

Thanks all.

It's good fun when you have to improvise with what you've got!

this is an excellent shot considering how you did it..............i've tried (and failed) to hold the kit lens backwards so i know what you were up against :)
