Has anyone done a head-to-head comparison of the Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM and Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM?

I need a wide angle lens for work taking pictures in building mechanical rooms where I am very limited in how far back I can get to take in an entire wall or group of equipment.

I am also interested in taking pictures of building exteriors and often times not being able to move far enough back without bringing something else into the picture.

Last, but not least, I enjoy landscape photography and think a wide angle will enhance that quite a bit.

Does anyone have any first hand experience using both of these lenses? A clear winner?

i've heard, just heresay, that the sigma 10-20 is not a very good lens

the thing that sucks about the 10-22 is that it's ef-s

I've seen a few reviews of the EX and it looks quite good. Here's one http://www.ephotozine.com/equipment/tests/testdetail.cfm?test_id=362

I've read a few reviews of the Sigma before buying my copy and they were pretty positive about it. Some of them said that it wasn't as sharp as it could be at 15mm, but for the 200 bucks I'm saving and the lens hood included I'm willing to live with it. By the time my skills get good enough for a better lens, I'll have a full frame sensor camera that is not gonna be able to use this lens anyway.

I've heard and seen results that show both lenses have/had some QC problems-very likely due to them both being quite new models.
My brother is thinking of buying the sigma so i'll tell him to try it in the store.Just a few quick snaps on a tripod will show wether it has problems or not.

i have tried the sigma 10-20 & found the auto focus to be a little slow.

deciding between the sigma 10-20 & the tokina 12-24. the tokina isnt as wide, but i heard its a pretty good lens. waiting for the camera shop to have stock to try it out.

a good thing about the tokina is that it has an internal focus system. thats if it matters to you. :)

As wide as I can get is what I am going for and picture quality. (Lens quality/durability, cake and eat it too, all the normal stuff.)

I couldn't justify spending the extra cash for the Canon 10-22 so I went for the Sigma. I use it mainly for landscapes and I am very happy with it. The fact that it came with a hood and a case was just gravy to me.

i love my 10-22, even after the high price,... using it makes it all worth while..

One of my favorite lenses. + 70-200 IS L. I could sell all my lenses, forget about any other focal range, and id be happy.
