Hi all,
The sky looked promising yesterday afternoon, so I decided to head down to what must be one of the most photographed restaurants on Perth's coastline, the Indian Teahouse on Cottesloe Beach. Well, the sky didn't play ball as I'd hoped, but I did take over 100 photos, playing with exposure, f-stops etc. Here's one that I like and 'developed' from RAW, using the CS2 RAW converter:

Finally, for the last 2 or 3 minutes, the sky played ball:

Comments and contructive critisism welcome!

Two very nice shots there. I wish I had ocean view to shoot sunsets :)

Yes, both shots are very nice. The sunset effect is very unusual, and having the sailing ship there is a plus. Good work.

Thanks Desertraptor! You are certainly a long way from the ocean... :D
Haven't you got some nice settling ponds you could take photo's of? ;)

Thanks Stan. I couldn't believe my luck when I looked through the viewfinder and saw the sailboat there. Talk about lucky. I have 13 shots in all of the sunset, so will need to check out the others.

I'm having colour space issues, once I sort this out the red colour will improve, but here's another I just did that had a bit more real estate (literally) to the left. There's an island off the Perth coast called Rottest, it's about a 45 fast ferry ride from the coast (19km from Fremantle, which is a fair way further south from where I took this).
There's a wind turbine on the island and, amazingly (to me), you can see it in this cropped image, it's at the far left and is the tallest object you can see here:

PS: I have reuploaded a proper colour space image to Pbase, but something keeps caching it. Here's a direct link to the larger version:

Thanks, it seems evenly balanced at the moment. I think they each convery a different mood though. I have made a 3200x1200 version of the second to put on my dual-screen setup at the office this morning. Should look stunning.

Yes I do but the fence would not look too good or those floaters.
Kidding guys no floaters..

Thanks, IIRC you live a darn sight closer to the beach than I do - so you have no excuse!
I'm going to get that one printed on metallic paper at the new lab I've found, they seem very helpful.
Cheers,

Thanks Stevie, just so everyone else knows (I replied to Stevie by PM), the framing is courtesy of a wonderful framing script written by a POTN member, Mike.
Check out http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=75175 for details.

Ho Hum! Just posted a sunset shot from my holiday in France and then opened this and wished I hadn't bothered. Brittany can't compete with Perth for sunsets like that, nice job!

Please don't stop being bothered on my account! :o If we all stopped posting because we thought someone elses photo was better than ours, this would be a lonely forum. If (and it's subjective) mine is better than yours, take it as a challenge (even if you have to come to Perth!).
Cheers and thanks,

Somone on another forum (my old stomping ground pre-Canon) suggested something like this:

Wouldn't stand up to printing at a reasonable size, but I think it's cool.
Cheers,

PS: Finally managed to work out (doh!) how to save the image with an sRGB profile instead of the aRGB one in PS CS2: Edit > Convert to Profile. Have replaced the image on Pbase, it should show more accurate colours now.
