G1 Exposure Compensation

What are people's feelings about using exposure compensation with the G1? From what I've read and experienced, the G1 tends to do better with underexposure than overexposure, and in any contrasty scene, exposure compensation of -1/3 or -2/3 results in better overall values and detail. On the other hand, judging from Pekka's posted EXIF info, he gets many perfectly-exposed images without using any compensation. Reactions, anyone?

The matter is that G1 has a small range in highlights (about 1,5-2 stops) and rather big (up to 4) in shadows.
Your mistake in higlights (overexposure) results in washing out your picture. But in case of mistake in shadows you are still able to correct it in PhotoShop.

Anyway, it's better to use proper exposure: if your target is too white - add +2/3 - ???, if black - -2/3 - ????, Grey - 0
I think, you've read it. I bought Kodak Grey card to make exposure against 18% grey. Pretty well. And the other side of the card is white, so it's possible to set proper White Balance :)
