That's a pissed off momma! She looks as if she is about to teach you a lesson. Very nive perspective, and a great contrast in subjects.

Actually they were Three adults there , but they were more coward than you expect. the second day I went to take more shots, but the whole nest was NOT there. They chose to escape  .

Hello BigAl

Thanx for commenting. Yes, I noticed that one antenna was out of the frame after I came home. Actually I was so scared and ready to run away at any sudden attack from them. :o.

The shot is amazing, but what's even more amazing to me is the whole nest being gone! Did you mean the occupants or physically the whole nest was removed?

Thanx for commenting. Yes, THE WHOLE NEST was gone. It was in a hidden place away from people ( But not from my camera  ) . so I think the wasps removed it.
Anybody hasan idea about wasps behavior against dangers ??

hello peter
Fantastic shot. Wow
How far from the nest were you?
Thanx for commenting. I was away at full hand stretching , my camera was about 10 cm away in this shot (thanks to the flip & rotate LCD), using Super macro mode, F8 , 1/250 and camera flash only at 2/3 .

Great shot. Those wasps could not remove their nest themselves. Those larvae in the nest were not ready to emerge. Someone else had to have remove the nest.

Hello Dennis
Great shot. Those wasps could not remove their nest themselves. Those larvae in the nest were not ready to emerge. Someone else had to have remove the nest.
I also thought the same, but I asked the people around, No body did. It was , as I said , in a hidden place. Some even didn't know it was there.
Who knows  ?

could be a possibility but it's a long stretch, are there some birds that know how to eat these things?

Hadn't seen this until you commented in my wasp thread. A great shot too and I see what you mean about the colouration, it seems that mumma has a different style of nest building too. Again, great shot and the quality is excellent. Don't you just love the macro mode in P&S cameras too, it's about the only thing I really miss since going to DSLR.

I don't think so , specially in the area . Do you mean that a bird can also eat the nest body ??

In addition to the macro mode, my Pro1 has a SUPER MACRO MODE that enables you to get up to 3 cm close to the object , with excellent DOF
Actually I can't make up my mind about it .. the Pro1 is very powerful and flexible to use and has excellent picture quality ( "L" lens ) , but there's something in my mind tells me to move to DSLR . What do you think ?
