I use it for the 1D and it is amazing truely amazing
how ???
first off the Quality is superior to anything out there and it is around 4x faster than using any other software from Yarc to Adobe
handles problems such as Moire better than anything with little or no tweaking
the new light version for $99 is going to be one of the best $99 you will spend to get the most out of the 10D or other suported camera
if you do photography for a living the $500 for the pro version can be made back in a few jobs with the time savings.

How might this compare to the new Adobe utility?
I've heard good things about the Adobe software.
Is Capture One a step above?
Thanks,
Kelly

well after testing it I think it works better ;)
Rob Galbraith has a good forum with info on Raw software
http://www.robgalbraith.com/ubbthreads/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=UBB29
if you have ever got Moire probs before C1 handles it very well ;)
http://www.chaddahlquist.com/software/convertor.jpg
the file is about 636k so jpeg compression didnt come into play
I think the Adobe software is nice and both the Adobe and C1 are not based on the canon SDK so they produce better results
the prob in my eyes with the Adobe is it uses Adobe browser which is slow and handling is one file at a time rather than a true browser fashion
no way to apply a WB to a group of images fast
the results can get nice still not quite C1 quality and that is with C1 stock settings ????
me I dont like to have to play around to get quality images.
I want to make it as fast as possible with the best quality.
the 10D files I have been playing with so far have been superior in quality to the Adobe such as the examples above.
and not to mention the speed is so nice ;)
I like getting the files done and getting into photoshop and playing ;)
WB is dead on
I have found what is nice is I set WB etc... to the images and hit the process button and keep going by the time I am down to the last files all are processed and I go into photoshop
the WB selection is very accurate and the previews are no wait ;)
I love Yarc but didnt like the live preview full screen
C1 boom its there no wait ;)
the report on DPreview to me something is funny there ??? files are to pixely ;)
a few others also feel this
I think when the light software comes out to test, you will find the 15 day trial will allow you to see the software and how great it really is
if you are only using the 10D and D60 D30
it will be the best $99 you can spend to get better results.
this is like jumping from a cheap lens to a nice L lens ;)
if you do Photography for a living or shoot with the 1D 1Ds the pro version is worth every penny even at $500
but again the company has trials of the pro at this time the light you will have to keep your eye on www.phaseone.com
also one nice thing, I like companies that have great customer service and as you go through the forums you will se that Phaseone is amazing at listening to you ;)
hope this helps
and I dont work for them just a satisfied photographer that loves the software and has truely made my images look better so less tweaking in PS etc..
