Hi guys,

I've been reading and reading so I thought it was time to put something to the test. Probably like most here the other half is not too happy about being in front of the camera but that's her problem and I need some constructive criticism!
Original photo was shot with a Canon 400D and 100mm f/2.8 macro lens. Details of the shot are 100mm f/4 1/250s ISO 100.
As the title says I've recently invested in Lightroom 3 so I'm trying out a lot of different settings. In this photo I've cropped it slightly, removed some spots, adjusted the levels and played with the soften skin tool. I'm thinking it's a bit too dark but it's hard to tell on my laptop with light behind me...

Please be kind ;)

I think it's a good picture.

You might want to soften skin irregularities to the point of providing your model with professionally done makeup. That can go a long way to enhance her willingness to pose for you. If you turn on Image Editing OK I'll provide a sample.

Excellent. Was that the soften skin adjustment in Lightroom?

Aside from a bit of beta testing I'm mostly LR ignorant. I used a mask layer in PS with various and minor amounts of gaussian blur.
