The train is the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad (http://www.cumbrestoltec.com/). It is a narrow gauge train that goes from Chama, NM to Antonito, CO, or the other way around, depending on the day. At its highest it reahes a little over 10,000ft.

More pictures are here (http://www.rendelldesigns.com/pics/2005-09-12/).

They were taken with a Canon G5.

Wonderful group of shots.

The Cumbress & Toltec is actually the southern end of the Rio Grande narrow gauge railroad. The Durango & Silverton is another tourist line that was rescued from the same system, and is a bit more commercialized.

They C&T still tries to emulate the operations of the old D&RG, even running their rotary snow plows whenever appropriate.
