Portrait Mode on S30???

Hello there.

I want to take pictures with sharp subjekt with a fading blureffect on the background.

In the manual I'm tol to use the Portait Mode for theese kind of pictures but it does not seem to work. When I first shoot with the automode and then switch over to the portrait mode it looks exactly the same. No different what so ever.

In the manual it sais that with a lot of telefocusing the background will get more blured. But It's the exact opposite for me here.

Can it be my camera that's wrong or it the portrait mode THIS bad???

I know this effect is accomplished by opening the aperture all the way. Use aperture priority mode and set it to 2.8 (S30 maximum). It's been said elsewhere on the forum that zooming all the way in (telephoto) helps as well. Good luck!

It will also help if the backgroud is further away from the subject than you are
