How do I resharpen these images without increasing file size?
Freeware version at the moment, but came across a 50 1.4 that was too good to pass up.

In my experience sharpening will, all things being equal, always increase file size.

So what I think you need to do is a) increase the amount of JPEG compression accordingly to reach your desired file size and/or b) decrease the dimensions of your image i.e. resize it.

I had a 50 1.4 for a while and it was certainly one of the sharpest lenses I've owned.
