Linux and the GIMP...adjust curves just a hair...up the contrast a hair..down the brightness a hair...

Here's my attempt. Played around a bit with contrast and added a sky from a pic that I have.

I have about 100 mid-day shots from Pompeii that pretty much suck due to really bad lighting conditions. What I learned from this was that no matter how much everyone else in your group wants to make Pompeii a "stopp off" on the way to somewhere else, I will insist that I be there early morning or late afternoon if I have a second chance. That being said, I'd still want to be many miles from there before dark. The town around the ruins is a nasty, dank, dirty, run-down has-been of a place where you wouldn't want to have to find a hotel room.

i give up... trying to up load my pic to this forum and i had to re-size it like 50 f***ing times till it was too small to see...and it started out as the first pic on this page, i didnt make it any bigger!!!GGGRRRRR! whay do we only get 100KB any ways?? 800 x 800 my arse, mine was down to 500 pixels wide and it still wouldnt let me up load...compressed jpeg to the max...what gives?
