I'm having 2nd thoughts that I didnt pay the 80.00 for 4 yrs at B&H.
My experiencce in the past has been that buying the warranty is useless...
my stuff , being taken care of very well , has always been dependable.
I bought a warranty for my stereo and payed a lot of money for it and never used it.
what do you guys think?

I tend to feel that they are a waste of money too. That being said, I bought the warranty on the 10D. I have never kept a digital for more than two years before wanting something bigger and better, and I thought the warranty might encourage someone to take it off my hands when it's time to sell. Hopefully I'll never have to use it.

80 dollars doesn't sound too bad for 4 yrs and 1K+ peice of kit. I suppose it would make a difference if the small print is mean. If it includes like loss and accidental damage insurance then I'd say it was an absolute bargain.
I don't usually consider ext. warranty for any purchases as I think it's an absolute rip-off and often, there's a pretty hard-sell by people who don't really know what they're talking about. Anyway, I would have wieghed it up for my 10D partly because I love it so much and partly because it's such a delicate, intricate lil' baby! Sometimes though, I think it's a Beast. Ohmygod, this must be love. :p
Having said that, the cost of Ex. warranty translates into something else I need as I'm starting out with DSLRs.

According to Consumer Reports the extended warranty is the biggest rip off in America.

Hi all
I just bought my 10D, this week from jessops in the uk
£1250 took out waranty for extra 2yrs @ £75 thought it wasnt to bad cosidering the cost. tend not to change cameras to often so i will still have it in 2006. it always a gamble on warrantys but at £35 each year one fault and it paid for its self.
