This was taken with my new lens (birthday). Its a Tamron 28-300mm Macro. I wanted more room between the lens and the bugs, plus telephoto if I needed it. This shot was taken with my 68mm Ext. set, lens set at 300m. Tripod, hand-held flash, cable release. But, here is the biggy(to me), I was at least 3 to 4 FEET away. Let me know what you think, please.:D :D( no cropping was done to this photo at all)

A great way to welcome a new lens! I can see every hair on that spider. I had no idea that lens was so sharp. I think you got a keeper BE.

As usual, all great pics BE. My question is how do you find so many awesome subjects to photgraph?

Thank you very much for the kind words. I think a lot of it has to do with, Location, location, location. Florida is blessed with an over-abundance of bugs to begin with, I have taken most of my macros in a 1 acre area next to the Peace River. There seems to be something new, every time I go there (about once a day or two).:D :D

Congrats on the new lens (and the b-day!) That spider is stunning. It must be quite pleasant to be 3-4' away from your subject...

all very cool pics be .....that lens looks to be very sharp especially the spider...........
is it just me or does that frogs head look too big for it's body :)
i have tried my ef-90-300 on extension tubes but didn't really like being 3-4 feet away and trying to find something that is a few cm wide.......... guess its down to personal preferance.... (i'm short sighted so maybe thats why i like being closer, means i can find the bugs in the 1st place :))

Thanks CB, the frogs head is too big for its body, I agree. I like being close up as well, but, I have lost many a shot due to being too close, so, hopefully, this will help with those subjects. wish me luck.:D ;) :D ;)

One pass of USM on each. the last one with the bug, I used USM and the Neat Image, to clean up some noise. Thanks for the kind words. I think the bug is crawling on a seed pod.:D ;) :D

crafty devil you.....;) LOL! At least He carries on a meaningful dialog, and alway has something nice to say. :D I've seen folks that run as fast as they can through posts rubber stamping "Nice Shot", or the plural "Nice shots"with the obvious intent of simply building post count. ;)

BE, it looks like you've got a great lens. Congratulations! What's the max magnification of this lens? The shots are great. I really love them, especially the 3rd one. Since you have the extra 2 to 3 feet extra working distance, I will expect more from you;). Keep going BE, you've raised the bar higher and higher:) .

Happy Birthday. Looks like that lens does the job nicely. The working distance seems to be OK, which I guess is handy for insecst that don't hang around patinetly :-) !

Great Shots BE! When I first got my Sigma 70-300 it was so hard to get used to shooting those close-ups from so far away, but it sure helps to get a nice shot.
