One of my favorites from the past. This shot was taken in the Colorado Rockies on top of Mount Evans at 14,260 in elavation. Yes, still snow on some of the peaks in mid-August of 2004. The foreground ledge that I was standing on is not in focus but I like it. Constructive critism welcome:

Looks like you need to rotate the image a few degrees CCW to bring the horizon level. Other than that, it's a nice image.

That looks like a fantastic place!

I agree with Mike on the horizon - I hadn't spotted it before but the clouds are a sure giveaway in this one. There is also quite a bit of haze, which is partly due to the UV rays at the high altitude. I can't help thinking that a 'Skylight 1A' filter would have helped to cut some of that out. I have one on the front of each of my SLR lenses. Cheap, cuts down haze and protects the front element of the lens. (Much easier to replace than the lens itself :) ) If you already used one of those filters, it must have been very hazy up there!

Thanks for sharing.

I've had that pointed out to me on a lot of my images in the past, so that is the first thing I look at!

Thanks for the comments guys! The only filter I used was a UV filter that I leave on my lens at all times. I can look into the "Skylight 1A" filter as well. This was the second time I was at that location and can tell you that it was a much nicer day this time then the previous time. We had to shed our summertime attire for winter clothing and that still wasn't enough for my wife who had to turn back, even after I offered to go to the car to get earmuffs. Warm, summer day at the bottom, anything but at the top. Regards! Steve

Good shot. I made two visits to Mt Evans this summer (2005) and enjoyed both. The scenery changed a lot in the 6 weeks between visits.

Nice photo. Gives a good sense of the vast distance.
