The latest contest is now under way and the title is:
"Post Capture Effects".

- After your photo is taken, open it in Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro and let loose your imagination. be it; creating DOF, Pan blur, Sepia, Black and white, Lighting Difference - it's all upto you. just be experimental and creative! :)

Please make sure you have read and understood all the rules before submitting your photos.

Remember, everyone is welcome to join in. You don't need to be an expert in Photoshop or PaintShop Pro, this is all just about having fun and, through that, getting better at photography and/or Post Processing.

Just please make sure you've read all the rules before sending in your pictures.

As per usual, you may submit up to two photos for this competition.
Good luck everyone!

Anyone can enter this contest. It is not so much we have these in the spirit of competition, rather we have these contests to challenge ourselves and to give ourselves motivation to take pictures that we might otherwise not do. And in turn learn and grow.

RULES
IMPORTANT RULES:
A) When creating your effect, you MUST save a photoshop file on your computer (ie; .psd) BEFORE you 'flatten image' and be sure the history and layers are visible. - this is to ensure all entries are infact created in photoshop (or paint shop pro), and not as they were out of the camera. - If/When asked, please provide Big_B or I this version of your photo to confirm that the effect was created in photoshop/paint shop pro & to stop people using other programs or preset actions to achieve the effect/manipulation.

1) The contest will run for two weeks and will end on Friday 1st October, 2005 at 8:00AM GMT.

2) You can submit up to two pictures, and change these if you wish up to the time that the competition ends.

3) No cheating

4) Photos must be no larger than 800 pixels at the longest dimension. Also, please try and keep the filesize down to under 200k if possible to make viewing the gallery easier for modem users.

5) No text or copyright notices.

7) At the end of the competition, a separate thread will be started to seek the votes of forum members over the period of 1 week. The person with the most votes will be declared the winner.
The winner will be recorded in the Hall of Fame
Commenting on photos before the voting closes:
You can comment on any photo in this competition, provided it does not have an asterix (*) next to the title.
I'll assume that everyone is happy for people to comment on their photos.
If you do not wish to have your photo commented on, just drop me an email/pm and I'll add an asterix to the title of your photo.
Note: The POTN Photographer of the Year contests are entirely separate from this one, so different rules apply.

Please be patient with me if it takes one or two days for me to get submissions posted.

Finally, please ensure that you have read this post fully and understand the rules prior to sending

I often use actions I have created myself for color adjustments, sharpening, etc. Is this not allowed? I am not trying to be "that guy" but I wanted to be clear on this point before I work on anything.

Thanks in advance.

Just to clear things up It is mentioned that the following types of effects can be used:

creating DOF, Pan blur, Sepia, Black and white, Lighting Difference

These are normal types of picture modification but can you use special effects plugins as well? Eg plugins to modify the orriginal picture but you can still see the orriginal composition.

special effects and your own actions are allowed.

i don't mind what you do, aslong as it was you who put the effort in.

theres no use winning a comp if all you did was open a file, run a script, save it and email it.

say you download a plugin, you run it. but that wasn't what youre after, and you needed the plugin aswell as many other things to get the deired effect - go for your life.

sound fair?
