was the canon 10d sold with an included hotshoe cover? I find it odd that mine doesn't have one. Maybe i'm weird.

No it's not included. Check p3 in the manual for what you're supposed to get.

I was asked one time if the hotshoe needed to have a cover. I asked "why?"
They were afraid of getting burned on the hot shoe.
Ha!

would you take off and put on a hot shoe cover if you had one?? I suspect mine would have long been left somewhere by now LOL. Hmmm, I think I had one on my E10 but I just checked and its gone. I haven't used the E10 for about a year so didn't even notice. A cover just doesn't seem necessary for the Canons--I use flashes and STE2 often enough and for long periods of time--and then don't use them at all for long periods of time--and have never had any problem with the hotshoe NOT being covered in between.
