This guy was sitting on the window sill, in a really awkward position. I tried to turn him side on, and he flew on to the stove - side on. He was very co-operative - didn't move once while I tried out many different variations of angles, FEC, shutter speed and F-stop. I took over a hundred shots of him.

What a hairy guy.

Good shots. The second needs more light as his colours are somehow dark.

Nice shots BigAl, moths come in a variety of very strange shapes and sizes. I put a black light out the other night and they came in droves. Some looking just like this one.

Thanks guys, your comments are appreciated!

Leo: When I started cooking I moved him off the stove, and he was very much alive. He first stood upright with his wings in a delta, then flew off and as soon as he landed he went into a posture similar to those above.

Dennis: What's a black light? Sounds like something that could be useful.

SW: What was interesting is if viewed from directly above, the gold patches on his wings look black.

You've capatured quite a lot of detail there, right down to the scales on the wing. Great stuff.
