Could someone point me to a web site that list the 1.6 magification for lenses with a digital camera?

Thanks

You just multiply the focal length of the lens by 1.6 and that will give you the effective focal length on your camera. For example : 50mm lens X 1.6 = 80mm effective length on a 10D or D30/60.

The 1.6 factor occurs because the sensor used to capture the picture is smaller than a 35mm film. That's partly why there's quite a bit of noise made about Canon's 1Ds. It's not just the 11MP sensor but also that it's "full-frame." If you don't want to multiply your focal lengths by 1.6 all the time, you can buy one of those. Mind you, the difference in price with the 10D is enough for the holiday of a life-time and quite a few pocket calculators. :D

I think Lewis refers to anj actual picture example.

A shot at 50mm with 35mm and one at the resultant
80mm with digital?
