Can somone tell me what kind of sound quality to expect with the s-230? I have had this camera for two weeks and have noticed on playback on my pc that there is a constant sharp cracking noise during playback making the sound record in video mode useless. I know I shouldnt expect much and I am brand new to digital photography. If this is normal does anybody have a solution to improving sound record? Thanks

If you lower the "wave" volume, it is not as noticable. Also, if the sound recording is louder, this noice is less. Some one in the Canon Talk forum explained that it is due to low quality microphone and in combination of 8 bit digital. I noticed it in all of my video clips as well, but it does not bother me.

Thanks,
Obviously Canon didnt pay much attention to the guy in the microphone purchasing department. I lowered the Wave volume and that helped. I wonder if I can swap the microphone in my cell phone with the camera's?
