I noticed there is no one wearing a yellow and pink striped shirt and green hightop sneakers.

I have had similar experiences/problems. I shot a county fair event this summer and probably captured over 800 people in various different shots. I was posting the various shots for sale on a web site and had to get releases from everybody. I had my daughters pass them out during the event and got the announcer to ask people to pass them down the rows for collection. I only ended up with about 500 and then was struck that I would never know which release went with what image! I just ended up chucking the whole bunch of pix...:(

How long did it take to get all your releases? Can you share how you did it? ;)

Most sporting events, on the ticket or when you buy, the release is part of the ticket purchase. These places know they have to sell tickets and TV rights. You grant a release upon their entry conditions. At least here in Canada I've seen it.
