I was saddened to see the video online of the fatal mishap. He really was quite the showman ! Here is another from that day in 2006. Johnathan

Love all three John but the first one of the Super Bug coming aboard is really special. I hope you have a big ol' 30x20 of that!

Were you the one who (on the "Who Are We" thread) mentioned that you write for an aviation publication? Can I ask which one?

FANTASTIC! I wonder if the first one would benefit from some very light tonemapping....

I don't know if I mentioned that or not on that thread... At my age I'm lucky I can remember which thread I'm reading from one minute to the next.

I'm a contract writer and photographer for Airport Journals. It's a monthly publication with an emphasis on general and business aviation. Here's a link to my recent article and photos on San Diego's Fleet Week celebration.

I rarely post in here but I found a disc of photos that were taken on one of my deployments on the carrier. Don't mind any dust and such because they were taken on film and scanned.

I'm new to the forum so I thought I would make my first contribution to this thread since I'm directly involved with aviation. I also have these photo's from the airshow that happens every year here. I have a good perspective since I'm on the flightline. I had to fireguard for the Geico Skytypers as well as some other performers. I also got to launch out a P-51 which was definitely interesting. Also I'm throwing a picture from my Las Vegas TDY when I flew on a KC-10.

These shots are fabulous! Pretty neat that the jets create their own bokeh.

This one makes me wonder if one too many folks jumped?

What's the backstory here and why is the twin in the background in such a hard dive (or is it just the camera angle that makes it look like it's diving?)

EVOL 12th of December 2007 (Wed) 14:02

Re: Your Best 3 Aviaton Shots

In the skydiving world it is comon for the plane to beat the divers to the ground. Major skydive companys will do hundreds of tandem jumps per day. When the last tadem is out the plane heads for the ground where there is another full load of jumpers waiting.

I had no idea that they did this in such an aggressive manner.

Guess it's a good thing that I always give the jump symbol a very wide berth when I see it on a sectional chart.

My father took this shot on the Stearman's first flight. About 10 years ago...I was 11 years old. Still my favorite shot, ever. this particular image quality is bad...because it's a scan of the 8x10. I'll see if I can find my shots.
