Re: Headstone
Excellent, moody, high-contrast B&W. But I think cropping using the "rule of thirds" would be a modest improvement. Try making it so the intersection of the headstone is 1/3 of the way in from lower left. There really isn't much at the bottom or left, and cropping this way would bring the contrasting shadows and light at upper right further into the frame.

Re: Headstone
Agree with Mitch, although I would crop from the right and not from the left. Also try to get some detail in the cross as it looks totally washed out.

Re: Headstone
It looks total washed out because a shaft of light was shining directly on the intersection of the headstone. I thought it look interesting, but maybe it got lost in the picture. I will see if I have one with out the direct light.
I tried your suggestion of croping out the right. I think I like this one the best. Thanks for all of the advice. ![]() |

Re: Headstone
Nice image. I think the washed out cross adds interest. If more detail were visible in the cross, it would be too dark and than would blend in with the dark ground, making for "One Dark" image. What you could do is use the sharpening tool and go over "One" side of the outline on the cross, say the right side. This would add some interest. I especially like the light streaks behind the cross. Interesting.
