What flash?

I plan on shooting some concerts (punk and hardcore) and I need a flash that I could use. My camera is a Canon Elan (35mm, doesn't have ettl).

I read about what flashes to use and I came across...

Re: If you had to choose just one for crop? 35L and 24L II

24L

The field of view of a 50 just is too tight for what I like to shoot.

Re: What lens[es] did you purchase to replace your kit lens?

Replaced my 18-55 with a 28-105 3.5-4.5 II.

For you, I would suggest the Tamron 17-50 and either a Canon 85 1.8, Canon 50 1.4, or a Sigma 30 1.4

Re: Aperture Setting on Unmounted Lens

Um, I'm pretty sure it is stored as wide open. However, if you take off the lens while holding the depth of field preview button, then the aperture will store as whatever aperture it was set to on...

Crop
24L
85L

FullFrame
35L
135L

But to be honest, I'd be perfectly content with just a 24/35.

Re: Help Beginner with lens choice

Get a flash. 50 1.8 will have a hard time autofocussing, so either stick with your 55-250 and get a flash or just get a 50 1.4 or a 85 1.8.

To me, 85 on a crop, (35mm field of view equivalent is...

Re: Which is the Best FILM camera from Canon ?

I love my Elan 2 and Elan. I've only borrowed a 1N, but it was GREAT.

Re: 3 out of 4 Lenses - which 3 would you pick ???

17-55
85 1.8
135 2

(hypothetically, for the price of the 135, $990, I would rather get a 70-200 f4L)

Re: Is this not sharp?

I will be doing this (99% likely). Well not exactly, as I won't be selling the lens right now. I'll see how much it is to get it serviced. I don't want to have to start selling my gear 'as is' but I...

Okay. Well the guy just sent me some photos, so I am downloading them now. Maybe it was since I was shooting with a 1d mk1 (4mp) that I didn't notice how soft it is. Now for a question regarding the...

Is this not sharp?

So I bought a 200 2.8L II a few months ago. I didn't use it much so I decided to sell it. Now, the person I sold it too is complaining that it is way too soft. So I ask you, is this not sharp?...

Re: One "L" Lens Only, Which Would It Be

17 4 TSe

or maybe a 400 2.8L IS II

I say this because I am fine with a nonL walk around (17-55).

Re: Does your equipment match your skill?

I'd say my gear is less than my skill, for now at least. I use a Elan 2e with a 28-105 3.5-4.5USM, a Minolta SRT200 with a 50 2, a Yashica FE521, and a few toy cameras. I don't really have a problem...

Re: Best lenses for under $400.

I'd put the EF 28-105 3.5-4.5 USM II for 100-200. They are usually around $125-150 used now.

Re: Best lens with a $200 budget EOS XS

I suggest a 28-105 3.5-4.5 They can be usually found around $100 and the build quality is MUCH better than the kit lens or the 55-250. The USM is great and the full time manual focus is also a nice...

Re: Would you take a free Leica M9 over a 5d2 or 1d4?

I'd take the M9 over a 5D2/1D4 if I already had a decent dSLR (which I don't as of now).
