Re: Smith River Forks. No Dam. Pines meet Redwoods

It is a beautiful sight. Thanks.

Just got canvas print of the photo earlier today, and it came out better than expected. Was concerned whether too much detail would be lost. My first experiment with...

Re: Smith River Forks. No Dam. Pines meet Redwoods

The file I uploaded for a test print last night was just a tad less saturated, and brighter, than this here.

Smith River Forks. No Dam. Pines meet Redwoods

Smith River ... Del Norte county of northern California. Found out last night I have one extra original in reserve, posted 2nd. I chose not to go for silky water and picked detail in the middle rocky...

Re: Redwoods // World's 8th largest tree

Almost no better way.

One restaurant had a photo with me even closer in the foreground, and they said like 8 of 10 people never noticed the person until they pointed out ... and that was with a...

Re: Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L USM - The Keg (2)

Like the natural light feel, whether that's what you stuck with or not.

The eyes of the 2nd photo seem as if maybe a reflector was used. Either way, the soft light in all of them is very nice.

Re: Redwoods // World's 8th largest tree

She wore jeans and boots going in there. It was a combination of hiking and bushwhacking to reach the tree. Think she's barefoot in the previous photo with the dress.

This shot shows her attire for...

Re: Post your "Favorite Tree" photo!

Pretty good.

If I was shooting there, not quite sure where I'd prefer to have the shadow if any.

Revisiting this thread tonight because I went back at the image file for a few hours to get a version that looked good 20" x 30".

Re: Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L USM - The Keg (2)

After time using this lens and watching photos by others, I think that the greatness of the 85mm 1.2 really soars with natural or interior backgrounds that place distance behind the...

Re: Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L USM - The Keg (2)

Pretty cool ^^^^ how the B&W sort of puts everyone on a level playing field so that their characteristics or movement is not second to clothing color.

This dog in the redwoods was so fricken quick...

Re: 50mm 1.2 focus off 10ft, and on-the-money. Had similar?

Interesting feedback so far.

Maybe that's why the camera shop guy said issues like I'm experiencing are more common than I might realize. Although he implied hope when he suggested sending the lens...

Re: 50mm 1.2 focus off 10ft, and on-the-money. Had similar?

Here's a sample ..

The green arrow is where the focus point is. The red arrows by the foliage left and path below are what's in focus. The trunk is about 11 feet wide.

50mm 1.2 focus off 10ft, and on-the-money. Had similar?

Just got around to putting my new 50mm 1.2 to use. I focused on a redwood tree and wondered why it looked like the matter in focus ended up being needles on the ground 10 ft. closer to me than the...

Re: Brochure Cover photo ... which one of the two ?

Agree on the clothing thing.

That's why we tried the red shirt and jacket. We were sort of hamming-around in this one.

For those first-time to this thread, this image is not applicable to the poll...

Re: what do you get when booking a MM and CL "'models"

So far, I've had about 90% success from MM.

Craigslist I would not touch, nor need to.

How much vetting did you do in advance before scheduling, since MM has the option for you to message other...

Re: Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L USM - The Keg (2)
