Still captures from the T1i/500D's 1080p video mode?

One thing about the much-maligned 1920x1080 @ 20fps video mode that interests me is the quality of screen-captures (or rather, frame-captures) from properly focused video shots. The idea of...

Re: SD to CF Adapter

I use one, a no-name brand CF Type II card. I've used it with my 30D and also Nikon D200, using Transcend 8GB SHDC Class 6 cards as backups for my CF cards.

I get about 12-14MB/sec download time...

Re: protection for xsi

Get some scratches and dings on it, you'll feel much more comfortable using it around interesting scenes and locales and people. Don't baby it, it's meant to take great pictures, not to stay...

Is it "harmful" to leave the photo printer on 24/7?

Just wondering what the conventional wisdom on this is. Thank you.

My 30D's LCD screen has a few shallow scratches. Don't remember how they got there, but they've been there for years and hey, whaddaya know, the camera still works fine! :D

What's the best non-photo-specific accessory you've ever found?

Just curious what stuff that are not specifically geared towards photography that you've found to be an invaluable accessory in your shooting/gear carrying/etc. Mine so far would have to be $1.20...

Re: 85 f/1.8 with tubes samples?

As it turns out I do have the 85mm 1/.8 and a set of extension tubes (manual, not electronic). I'll try to post some samples later today.

Re: DIY R-Strap: How to properly use lock washers?

Thank you so much John, that's exactly what I was looking for. Much appreciate it! And thanks for the tip about the burrs on the end of the eyebolt, I think it's good but I'll double-check.

DIY R-Strap: How to properly use lock washers?

Hardware ignoramus here. I'm trying to put together a very basic, DIY R-Strap-esque contraption. I've got a 1/4" eyebolt cut to the proper length, washers, nuts, and lock washers (split and...

Can you damage a lens by dismounting it while DOF preview is engaged?

I understand a way to "lock" an EF lens to a set aperture to use with manual extension tubes is to engage DOF preview on the body while the lens is mounted and set at a specific aperture, then...

Re: Bouncing external flash with your PowerShot A-series cameras (with manual mode)

Bouncing external flash with your PowerShot A-series cameras (with manual mode)

The bane of point-and-shoot cameras, at least those not costing over $400 and equipped with an external flash hotshoe, is the quality, or lack thereof, of indoor flash photography. Because the light...

Re: Post your homemade accessories

ssracer,

How do you set the aperture on the EF and EF-S lenses? They all go wide on me ("00") when I try them with my manual extension tubes.

Thanks.
